Product DescriptionFerrite is a ceramic material with iron oxide as its main component. Most Ferrites are magnetic materials used to make permanent magnets, transformer cores, and other related applications.
Ferrite is generally a non-conductive ferrimagnetic ceramic material, which is extracted from hematite (Fe2O3) or magnetite (Fe3O4). Ferrite is similar to other metal oxides, with high hardness and brittleness. Ferrites are classified as "soft magnets" or "hard magnets" according to their low or high magnetic coercivity. The Ferrite magnet used in the iron core of transformers or electromagnets includes compounds of nickel, zinc or manganese, which have low coercivity and are generally called Soft Ferrite. Its low coercivity means that the magnetization of the material can be changed from positive to negative without consuming a lot of energy (hysteresis). The high resistivity of the material itself also reduces another source of energy loss: eddy current produce. Due to the low loss at high frequencies, reactors commonly used in the core of radio frequency transformers and switching power supplies.The Ferrite magnet used in permanent magnets is Hard Ferrite, which has higher coercivity and remanence after magnetization. Iron oxide and barium carbonate or strontium carbonate are used to make hard ferrites. Because of its high coercivity, hard ferrite is not easily demagnetized, which is also an important characteristic of permanent magnets. Hard ferrite can generate magnetic flux and also has a higher magnetic permeability. Hard ferrite is also called ceramic magnet, its price is cheap, and it is commonly used in household products (such as refrigerator magnets).Ferrite is commonly used in the production of iron cores in inductors, transformers and electromagnets. The high resistance of ferrite can reduce its eddy current loss. The ferrite core is also often placed on the power line and signal line of the computer, called a magnetic bead, which can prevent high-frequency electromagnetic noise (electromagnetic interference) from entering or transmitting from the device.Early computer memory used the remanence of a hard ferrite core to record data, which was generally combined into an array of magnetic core memory. Ferrite powder is also used in the coating of tapes, the most common being iron oxide.Ferrite particles are also used as radar wave absorbing coatings for stealth aircraft. In laboratories used for electromagnetic phase capacity measurement, ferrite particles are also used to absorb electromagnetic waves and avoid reflections.Many magnets in radios and speakers are ferrite magnets. Ferrite magnets have replaced AlNiCo magnets in this field.In electric guitar pickups, magnetic pickups will also use Ferrite as its magnetic material.
